Carl Jackson, a seasoned python hunter, made headlines by capturing a massive 202-pound Burmese python in the Florida Everglades.

The snake, stretching 16 feet, 10 inches, is the second-heaviest recorded in Florida.

Jackson, with his wife and two children at his side, faced a dramatic struggle as the enormous python coiled around him and dragged him through the swamp.

Despite his extensive experience, Jackson remarked on the snake’s extraordinary size and strength.

This female python was carrying around 200 eggs, highlighting the serious threat these invasive reptiles pose to native wildlife.

Officials stress the importance of invasive python removal, turning to creative solutions like robot rabbits to protect the Everglades’ fragile ecosystem.

Jackson’s daring capture underscores the vital role local hunters play in Florida’s ongoing fight to safeguard its environment.

Broward County has launched a major dune and beach restoration project to strengthen Hollywood Beach against erosion and boost coastal resilience.

Heavy equipment is moving sand along the shoreline from sunrise to sunset, Monday through Friday, with work progressing north to south and a projected completion date in late April.

The parking lot between Bougainvilla Terrace and Azalea Terrace is being used as a staging area, leading to fewer available parking spaces until the end of April.

January saw sand placement from Dania Pier to Meade Street, and more recently work has extended to Cleveland Street.

No dunes are planned between Cleveland and Harrison Street, while the next phase will cover the area north of Harrison before resuming southward in March.

Temporary beach access closures may occur nearby, but alternate paths remain open, ensuring the ongoing protection and enjoyment of Hollywood Beach for years to come.
