Hollywood Marks 100 Years with Vibrant Downtown Festival |
Community gathers to honor a century of growth and unity |
On Saturday, November 22, 2025, the city of Hollywood, Florida, celebrated its centennial with a lively festival at the ArtsPark at Young Circle. Thousands of residents and visitors came together to commemorate the city's rich history and dynamic growth over the past century.
Established in 1925 by visionary developer Joseph W. Young, Hollywood has flourished into a vibrant community of over 150,000 residents. The centennial festivities showcased vintage automobiles, historic fire trucks, and presentations that offered glimpses into the city's early days. Attendees enjoyed a variety of food trucks, local vendors, and live performances by city officials and community leaders.
Local vendor Alnisa expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "I'm thrilled to be here tonight, celebrating 100 years of Hollywood. This evening is incredibly special, and I'm grateful to be part of this community."
The event also featured winter-themed attractions, including slides covered in faux snow, delighting families and children. The evening culminated in a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, signaling the start of the holiday season and adding to the festive atmosphere.
The centennial celebration not only honored Hollywood's storied past but also highlighted its ongoing development and community spirit. With nearly $1.5 billion in private development planned or underway, including over 4,000 new residential units and mixed-use projects, the city continues to evolve while maintaining its unique charm. Initiatives like the recently completed Downtown Hollywood Boulevard Streetscape Project have enhanced the area's appeal, blending historical elements with modern design to create a pedestrian-friendly environment.
As Hollywood embarks on its next century, the centennial festival served as a testament to the city's resilience, growth, and the enduring pride of its residents. |
